General Conference and a growing testimony.

Twice a year members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints gather together for a General Conference which takes place in Salt Lake City the first weekend of April and the first weekend of October. During Conference church leaders talk on various topics they have felt inspired to share with us that come from God. This past weekend we were fortunate enough to hear from many of our leaders including our beloved prophet, Thomas S. Monson, our First Presidency members and our 12 apostles, as well as other church leaders. Fortunately, since we don't all live in Utah or have the means of attending the sessions live, Conference is broadcast in multiple formats so people throughout the world can watch, listen or read it together. Our family was able to view it live through BYU-TV and Elder Scott was able to watch it live via satellite in Peru. The entire time I was watching I had a smile on my face knowing Elder Scott was doing the same thing as his family right at that moment, and when I heard from him on Wednesday I found out he had been thinking the exact same thing. It made our miles apart seem small and insignificant. What a great blessing from our Father in Heaven.

After Saturday's session which included 2, two-hour blocks, as well as a Priesthood Session that evening,  Elder Scott wrote the following testimony in his journal.

Even though we were thousands
of miles apart, Elder Scott was
in our constant thoughts
throughout General Conference

Today was an amazing day of conference. I have never paid such close attention or gotten so many important messages from it. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to watch it here in the CCM. I know that God inspired those speakers. I know that he had them talk about the topics that are needed by the saints in these Latter-Days. I know that God called a true prophet on the world today, and that prophet is Thomas S. Monson. I know that this is the true church. I know that it was restored by Joseph Smith. I know that our Heavenly Father cares for us. I know that He knows our needs and how we can receive His blessings. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I love my Savior and I love my Father. I’m so overjoyed that He called me to serve his church in these latter-days.
